Write about a time that your friend pressured you to do something that you later regretted

Whenever I walk past Juying Secondary, a big school near my house, I will pause for a moment and recall the ugly memories I had in that school. I can still remember how I was a young and diligent boy; until I met a group of trouble makers in school who influence me to change. I regretted hanging out with them as they pressured me to do something I later regretted. Many opportunities for me to shine in school positively had gone down the drain.

In school, I would usually sit alone to have my meals. This was because most of my classmates disliked me. It was mainly because I was older than them by a year and we did not have common interests. Hence, every time we have nothing to talk about. The only time I got to exchange words with my peers was during group discussion. I felt left out in class as well as vexed that nobody was willing to hang out with me. Everybody seem to ostracize me as they avoid working with me.

Those days changed drastically when I was beside the school`s basketball court during recess, watching a group of seniors who were the same age as me playing basketball. Although they were not skillful, they still enjoyed playing the game as they were laughing and giggling all the time. The group of seniors who played were actually very mischevious in school. They frequently visit the principle`s office as they often cause trouble. One day I started playing with them. We would usually dash to the basketball court during recess or after school.

When I started playing with them, I felt very comfortable and excited. I was no longer feeling lonely and sad. I would smile and laugh every time we had basketball games. Soon,

NO LONGER GOING TO UPDATE LONG REFLECTIVE ESSAY.

OKAY PEOPLE, I am so sorry that it has been awhile since I updated my blog.

Recently I have been busy with the administration of my poly life! It's like finally I enter poly with a lousy grade. (L1R4= 20)&(L1R5=26) and I entered through DPA (Direct Poly Admission). Thankfully I got into the course I wanted, maritime business:D. I feel kind of apprehensive as I am afraid I will get distracted from the power of freedom. According to most seniors and adults, poly requires a huge ton of discipline and responsible. After so much of worrying, I found the solution to my problem from a DPA camp I entered.

<<<<<<MY GOALS>>>>>>
1)complete my 3 years course in maritime business
2)maintain a GPA of 3.5<
3)enter OCS (OFFICER CADET SCHOOL)
4)cultivate the habit of discipline
5)cultivate the habit of responsibility
6)cultivate the habit of respect
7)FORGING THE ELITE OF FITNESS {pratice/train at least 1-3 times a week}
(CROSSFIT)

well as the list will go on but these are 7 more important goals to be accomplished first. The guideline and timeline spreads to 3 years. THANKFULLY I FOUND 2 ACRONYMS which will guide me.

Failure is a success if we learn from it, is this always so in your past experience.

As humans, we feel that making mistakes determines our capability. Many people are afraid of making mistakes as society views people who commit mistakes as failures. Many a times situation like these prevent humans from exceeding their utmost potential, but it is through mistakes that people learn. Committing mistakes is a sign that we are on our pathway to success. Through committing mistakes is only half way, so to completely succeed we need to learn from our mistakes. To me, success is when I learn from my mistakes and not allowing myself to give up. By not allowing myself to give up, I will persevere and ultimately accomplish my targets. This struggle is a form of success to me. success has many forms of definitions but to me, success is when things turn out to be better than before and there is a change in my progress. Hence, in this essay I will share how failure is a success if we learn from it.

I learned that we must not allow failure to define our capabilities. When I was in secondary three, I constantly failed maths. Maths was my nemesis as I was not able to understand what the teacher was trying to teach. Hence, I started to sleep in class because I gave up trying to decipher what the teacher taught. Fortunately, the teacher did not lose faith in me and even shared with me the noble story of Thomas Edison. When Thomas Edison was a kid, he was often bullied and despised by his teachers as his teachers who taught him deemed him as a fool, that he was incapable of learning anything. As a child, Thomas Edison did not go to school. However, he was famous for inventing the light bulbs, he is also an inspiration because he failed during elementary school, but he manages to succeed as he grew older because he refused to give up. he seized every opportunity he had and did not allow the teachers`remarks` to define his capabilities. Similarly, my teacher told me that I must not let failure define my capabilities. Hence, I am convinced failing a maths test and learning from it will bring you success. After her inspiring speech, I decided to work diligently and passed my maths examination because I believed that by learning from my past mistakes I am now fully aware of them and hence, it is easier for me to achieve good grades. Therefore failure is a success if we can learn from it.

I learned that failure is an opportunity to know my weakness and shortcoming. Another example would be my English subject. Having failed every essay.I painstakingly wrote was often demoralising as I felt that I was unable to achieve good grades. I was often disappointed with myself for failing every essay I used to write until my English teacher madam Teoh guided me. She taught me that failure is a success because every lesson I would submit an English Essay and she would mark it. Although I was very demoralised from the results of my first essay, she would talk to me and tell me to have faith in myself. She could see a vast potential in me excelling in English and thus, I managed to succeed. My English essay had improved tremendously from fail to a merit. though it is not a distinction, I am satisfied with what I am receiving now because I see changes in myself. This also means that failure is a teacher itself, teaching us through analysis and feedback on how to improve. Being able to excel in my English Essay. Thus, taught me that failure is a success if I learn from it.

Lastly, a well-known leader has taught me that failure is a success if we learn from them. When I was a Prefect, I was not serious about my role which was a failure because my teachers often reprimanded me. I lost many opportunities like being the school`s head-Prefect and being a camp chief of the forthcoming camps. I was distracted by peers who did not encourage appropriate behaviour. They misguided me and this cost me many opportunities for excelling. The leader who taught me to learn from my mistakes was Winston Churchill. Winston Churchill was a great leader not because he led Britain to victory from world war 2 but because he learn from failures before he could succeed. He failed 5 political elections, but that did not stop him from joining the political party. After entering the party, he was often back stabbed by other leaders and each time he grew wiser. similarly for me, I was fortunate enough to have another platform to showcase my leadership skills. Being a basketball captain upon realising my mistakes, I sought advice from my school teachers and he gave me a second opportunity to learn from my mistakes. I was put in charge of guiding the team to do warm ups and basketball drills. This taught me that failure is success and it is not too late to realise our mistakes. Through sharing and guiding I learnt more about myself and it taught me to accept responsibility for doing something wrong. Thus, I am glad that I am still able to succeed although I was a little slow in correcting from my mistakes. Therefore, this is another example of failure is success if we learn from it.

In conclusion, those three short experiences have taught me that failure is success if we learn from them and this is so from my past experience. Those experiences have changed me and turned me into a different person. Failures are opportunity for success because failures show you where your mistakes are and we can learn from our mistakes to improve ourselves. Failure should not determine our capability but it determines our opportunity to learn from our mistakes and success.

Describe the things you do that brings you the greatest satisfaction.

I feel that the things that bring me satisfaction are things I do to feel happy and a sense of achievement. To me, satisfaction is when I manage to do some difficult exercise like "muscle ups" and "piston squats" when I can run as fast as the speed of light and I manage to complete a tough Cross Fit workout. Sometimes I also feel good to be respected and looked up to. Satisfaction is something that cannot be seen or heard; it can never be bought with money or stolen from somebody. It can only be felt when you work hard and put in extra effort to see improvement in your results. In this essay, I will talk about things I do to achieve the greatest sense of satisfaction.

There are some things I do in life that help me to feel satisfied;one of them is exercising. Being able to complete a 12-km run within a timing of 55 minutes is already a sense of satisfaction. It gives me hope and motivates me to improve my physical and mental endurance. Satisfaction is the engine that drives me forward because tasting the sense of accomplishment is like a form of addiction I simply cannot stop feeling satisfied when I look into the mirror and stare at myself. The change in me makes me feel good. Changes like having more define muscles shape or I become better in doing physical activities are improvement. When I see changes in me, I feel satisfied. Hence exercise is one of the things I do that has brought me the great sense of satisfaction.

Secondly, education is also another platform that brings me the sense of satisfaction. Although I dislike studying, achievement is one of the reason that made me have a love-hate feelings towards studies. In school, I would usually try to be first in class or at least top 5 in class. Sometimes it`s a challenge for me to ace the latest class test as I would not have energy to continue studying after a long day in school and after I complete my daily workout routine. However I am a fighter and I would not easily give in to sleep. I will burn the midnight oil because I think its worth persevering when I top the class for test. Being top I class is not easy therefore it is a sense of achievement when I am top in class. Which brings me a sense of satisfaction. Education is hence one of the things that brings me satisfaction.

Lastly, having good relationship also brings me a great sense of satisfaction. Being able to work with my teammates or peers around me brings me a sense of satisfaction. Miscommunication is common in today`s society. One of the main reasons that caused miscommunication is the wrong usage of tones.
Therefore, I often quarrel with my peers because of this. It is not easy to have a smooth communication with somebody moreover there are too many peers in life to take note of. Therefore, I feel satisfied when I am able to run camps smoothly or present a good project in front  of the class with my group members. Therefore I feel satisfied when I manage to cross the barrier of miscommunication, because once I am able to overcome this problem, things will be done easier and with better communication, relationship among people will improve. Hence, this is a sense of satisfaction.

In conclusion, satisfaction is about being able to accomplish something, those are the 3 things that often bring me a sense of satisfaction as I often learn new things from it. Being encouraged and looked up to also gives me a sense of satisfaction.

"EVERY DAY HEROS ARE NOT HARD TO FIND" REFLECT ON HOW THIS IS TRUE IN YOUR EXPERIENCE.

Everyday heroes can be found around us. It can be anyone from any occupation, a man or a woman. In my opinion, everyday heroes are people who impact others around them. They are not hard to find, but their actions are unnoticed because we are too caught up with our own lives. An example of an everyday hero will be charity workers who dedicate their time and effort in helping the less fortunate to improve their lives. There are many different types of everyday heroes in the world, and in this essay I will share 3 experience on how are everyday heroes found in my daily life experiences.

Everyday heroes are people who save others that are in danger and they put their lives at risk to save others. My friend Kevin is an everyday hero because he works as a lifeguard. People like him are not hard to find because they are stationed everywhere around the beach or swimming pool. He might not be a hero just by standing there, but he is one when your life is in danger. My friend Kevin  is a saviour because he shared with me that almost every day there is a handful of people who almost lose their lives due to various reasons. Therefore, he has to be alert at all times and risk his life by swimming against the current to save people who are trapped in the torrent of waves. Thus, he is an everyday hero because he is lucky enough to save many lives of others at the expenses of his health. He shared with me that every minute is precious especially when people are in danger and decisions must be finalised in the nick of time. Thus, my friend Kevin is an example of an everyday hero and they live among us.

Everyday heroes are people who are willing to sacrifice their time and energy for us. They will go the extra mile to see you happy and make your life much more comfortable. An example of such people will be my parents. My parents are my everyday heroes not simply because they brought me into this world, but because they are willing to go the extra mile just make me happy and comfortable. They are willing to sacrifice their time and money on me to nature me which makes me who I am today. My parents often worked overnight just to earn those extra pence to ensure that my siblings can have whatever they want. It is kind of sad how they have to suffer in silence every time they are being reprimanded by customers for doing something wrong. At the end of the frustrating day at work, they still come back with a wide smile on their faces and greet me when they are back. Thus, my parents are my everyday heroes because they are always suffering in silence when they work, they are willing to go through hardship just so that my life is much comfortable. They sacrifice the money they earn on me by satisfying my cravings and even skipped their meals to save money. Hence, they will always be my everyday hero.

Everyday heroes are people who are willing to go the extra mile and save others from hardship. A solid example would be my neighbour miss Chan. Every Sunday my neighbour and I would visit the factories of supermarkets and search for companies that are going to dispose of unsold food. Those unsold foods have been on the selling fast, thus they will be removed and thrown away. Instead of disposing those unsold foods. Miss Chan and I would try to convince those big companies that food like these are needed in refugee camps or churches. Though it is a very tedious task, we would search relentlessly for the food so that people who are less fortunate are able to live their lives much better. In times when funds are tight, those foods can brighten up people`s day because they often do not get the opportunity to have three meals a day.Fortunately there are people like I and Miss Chan who are willing to take some time out to find unsold fruits and vegetables. Ferry them to their kitchen so that they can have a nice meal. Thus, people like us are everyday heroes because we help them to feel better with good food. Their pain and agony will not be fully lifted away but, at least eased.

All in all, every day heroes are people who are willing to make sacrafises as well as go the extra mile. They will also put their life at risk to save others. It is not difficult to find everyday heroes because in society humanitarianism is highly valued. People still consider the heart and mind of others. From my above three short recounts , I have proven that everyday heroes are not hard to find.
